I am thinking of changing the engine bearers in my boat in the very near future, they are wood and the engine is a Sabb 10hp with solid mounts,

What type of wood would be best? it needs to be strong with good vibration damping i guess,i have been offered some oak but dont know the suitability,

the boat is plastic and i think the old bearers are glassed in.
thanks.

If your boat is GRP then pine is fine if you are to glass them in.
Pine is used in wooden boats too. In both cases you should glass in or bolt on a 3/8" steel cap to drill and tap for the feet, and not rely on coachsrcrews.

Thanks, will get pine then, the cap sounds a good idea,at the moment the engine is held on to the boat by 4, 1/2 bolts bolted through the beds,ok for the last 33 years i guess.
