Hi
Can anyone help ? I’ve just brought a sealine s 24 1999 two weeks in and new to boating I’m already stuck
I tried yesterday to turn on the power and drain the water tank for the winter but unfortunately I can’t get any 12 volt power the 20 amp winch trip won’t reset even with the power switches turned off I’ve checked the batteries both given about 12 volts
The power was working when I brought the the boat so my only thoughts at the moment is something has got wet but where to look ?
I did look at the winch but cable clamps looked dry
Any one had this problem too ?

Do you really mean 'winch' which is nothing to do with the water tank. 20A is very small for a winch trip and if it won't reset it is possibly faulty.
You need to get hold of a multimeter and trace the voltage from the battery through the main isolator switch to the relevant trip for the pump. Lidl had a suitable multimeter a week ago for £10 and is an essential to have on board.
I drain my tank with a small hose from the tap through the sink drain and down to the ground. once you get it flowing with a manual pump it will siphon out. This assumes you are ashore. If you are afloat the surrounding sea should prevent the tank freezing.

Welcome to the forum.

This might be your problem.

Fully charged batteries should have a resting voltage of c12.7 volts.

I'd charge up your batteries and see what happens.

As you have just bought the boat I strongly recommend you put Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual: How to Maintain, Repair, and Improve Your Boat's Essential Systems by Nigel Calder on your must get now list.

A battery showing 12v is 50% discharged, according to doctor google. I was told to charge it fully, 13.8v or so, and leave it (disconnected) for 48 hours . A drop of 2v in two days means it's duff.
