Many thanks for the advice and information especially to Cliff for the download info.
Thanks to you I think I have 'sussed' the older of the 24volt ebers and will be able to get it running.
The 2nd unit is still a problem this is the D1LC and it is not covered by the info from the down loads. Unlike the D1L the unit has a large number of coloured leads emerging from the unit itself, rather more like the D1LC compacts which I am more used to. I rather hoped that the control unit would be in the heater (as per the compact) but all though there was a board of some kind it was not the same as in the compact.
Does anyone know if the heater has an external control unit, relay, and regulator or what? (it is model number 25 1768 01)
Story is that I got the 2 heaters and a box of bits in a sale and am determined to get some use out of them.
Most grateful for the help to date.
Regards

the older 1DLs control box had a fuse on the PCB. it was just a piece of "fuse wire". the later mods had an external cartridge fuse.
the fuse wire could easily be re soldered in place

Your heater is described as a "D1LC Universal 24V"

It's full part number is 25 1768 05 00 00

It does have an external control unit (part no 25 1689 50 00 08)

edit|: post was in reply to pcatteral (not sailorman)
