e-Borders where its the RYA?

I expect because if you read the agenda the focus is on commercial carriers, not private individuals that the RYA represents!

Looks to me as if they're discussing objections from commercial operators.

I agree. These are the people who will have to collect the data the Government is wanting. RYA won't be performing that role, so we will have to leave it to the officials at the Home Office to work out how the data is going to be collected from the sailing community.

Civil Servants working out the possible from the impossible - doesn't that reassure you? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I see thay had the sense to invite Eurostar... I wondered how they were going to tell passengers who tried to book a ticket on the day to come back two days later for a seat , And turf passengers of in France who only booked the day they got on /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If you want to know the current position re the RYA and Eborders suggest you read pages 26/7 of the members magazine summer edition. Has been well covered in the yachting press as well.

You will see for example that the proposals for pleasure yachts place responsibility for providing the data on the yachtsman not a carrier. So the issue is quite different. I am sure the RYA will be watching what is going on even if it has no direct bearing on its own discussions with government.

Much more likely to influence government than a few Yotties bleating. Just have to hope that somebody sells Dave the idea of a quick cost saving by scrapping it when (if) he gets elected. Bonus that he can blame it all on GB!
