Although i do not watch his (or any sailing videos) I enjoy reading about his travels.

Such a shame about the bad reception he got on here. I realy miss him.

Good for him. Just seen his swallows vid on the Newsweek link above, stunning!

Edit: Colregs in there must be tricky!

For a moment I thought he was going to be on "Strictly Come Dancing".

I do miss his posts here, still I watch he super videos on YouTube and am planning a trip round the UK in a few years; a wee bit faster and with no YouTube channel.

???
Only just came up on my feed, and Newsweek article is dated 20th Aug, so how so?
Or do you mean the pics used of the wee boat?

Most of the material quoted is old - the boat in the pic was sold over 5 years ago, and not sure that he even has a Centuar now having bought and sold 2. However, if you have not discovered him before his videos are in a sense timeless.

Dylan sold his newest Centaur at the end of last season. He has not continued his round Britain trip this year due to lack of funds. He now only sails up and down the river Deben in his smaller boat that he kept, as far as I can see.

Really? What did I miss?

He made the mistake of claiming copyright on rather a lot of material he had taken without permission from other people, then tried to sic his posse onto one who complained. There was no need for him to disappear, but I expect he had his reasons, and I'm sure he'll be back. Cats always come back when they're hungry.

It wasn't lack of funds, but lack of profits. KTL was always a commercial venture, and of course there is nothing wrong with that. I gather that he is still waiting for someone to buy him a motorsailor big enough for his family to have long summer holidays.

Bit jumbled today? He used a photo from someone elses website without proper attribution or permission. To say it was "rather a lot" perhapd implies his website is not predominantly original work of a high quality. This is not true - KTL isnt clickbait.

Regarding the motorsailor i dont think it is for family holidays but to pursue his artform. Art has often needed benefactors- if you don't see the beauty then dont watch and no need to cast aspertions as to its integrity. It takes some bravery to share your artistic efforts with the public - are you in anyway creative?

Ach thats just typical modern journalism, rehash old stuff. I suspected the old boat pics were used on purpose, the smaller boat looks more adventurous to a readership, but thats not dylans doing.

Jumble duck, I cant agree with that. He hotlinked one image, and then took it down, but the guy is a convicted fraudster and makes a habit of putting his images up without copyright watermarks, and then suing for useage rights. That's hardly rather a lot of material.

Just to clarify, the guy who is a convicted fraudster is not Dyl! Just in case anyone read the above post wrongly.

And I will add my voice to those who say we miss seeing Dylan on these forums. Sadly there are too many people with too much time on their hands who are eager to criticise someone who has produced some beautiful and inspirational work.

I really like Dylans stuff ...

What happened was a nasty bit of copyright "scalping" - but I did enjoy the reams of BS from real and amateur lawyers -

i do think sometimes something weird happens in YBW forums ... the mob gets all worked up and has a massive fight - do you remember a young woman on a boat going to Brighton and other things ...

oh well -

seriously though I thought KTL was great example of sensible small boat sailing - on budget - all very cool
