Just got back. The largest indoor boat show in the world. Makes UK boat shows look a bit sick, i must say. If you thought that there weren't many sailing or power boats at LIBS - the reason is that they were all at Dusseldorf instead. Area perhaps eight+ times as large. I had two days there, and only very narrowly averted buying several very large boats.

I always thought buying powerboats involved lots of depreciation, but prhaps not. Was chatting to pal who bought a new 33' powerboat a year ago and has just part exed it for a 42' whilst gaining 20k on the original price. Apparently trick is to buy 'from drawings' before the boat gets to the market and they get the pricing adjusted to demand.

Considering how small the German coastline is it is interesting that the show is so big, must be all the lakes that make up for it.

Re: Bavaria Boat show

Damn! All the other boats must have been there just for research and copying their ideas. Actually, dusseldorf is nowhere near bavaria, but then sunseeker isn't anywhere near the sun, so you're almost certainly correct. I must say that Bavaria seem hugely overstaffed. However, they all get charged €12 admission to go to work so it probably explains how the boats are so cheap.

Re: Stop toying with our emotions...

Distancia is easily the most whacky and whizzy boat, for sale €1.5m. Nordia is easily the best liveaboard cruiser, craftsmanship and design incl longish keels all piles better than Oyster i'm afraid and a 66 there was said by the salesman to be €2.3m. CNB seem to know what they ae doing tho a bit french and open for the loot also at about €2.3 for a sexy-looking 75 footer.

Vaguely realisticish in terms of a large forumable boat is a benny 57. Bit rattly next to a Nordia but it seems sorted and fast and i bet they would have loads of spares plus the chance of it getting across the pond for winter sailing too. A snip at £400k plus the dreaded.
