I previously asked here if anyone had contacts for RIB charter in Dubrovnik. Thanks to BartW / JFM etc. who took the time to offer information, it's really appreciated.

I thought i'd ask in public as it would gather more viewers and maybe help others....

I've a choice of RIB's to charter now from Dubrovnik (I'm guessing the marina, where the ferries pull in... we're staying old town which is a short taxi away).

We'll be renting approx. 6.5m so shouldn't have an issue getting places.

So, for those familar with the area... once we leave port... where do we go? We love skipping from place to place. We don't like to just 'hang around' in one anchorage all day. Ideally, find a really nice anchorage, go for a swim, have a drink etc. and move on to the next place.

Obviously the Blue Cave / Three Green Cave is on the cards, but any other anchorages with little caves / dramatic (cliff) views, maybe a beach? Or even a funky beach bar that we can swim into for a quick cocktail before moving on. And of course, given we'll be out from 8am - 6:15pm (sunset), we'll need some lunch! We don't do fancy food or seafood.... just something that's not McDonalds quality that will fill the gap, ideally with a bit of a view / on the beach.

We'll be there mid-October, so we know it won't be scorching hot but given we're Irish, we'll take it!

Thank you all :)

From Frapa, just exit and head NW straight to Elaphiti islands. You could spend a week+ in a new beautiful place every day. Call in and tie up quayside at Sipanska Luka and get a beer at the hotel looking at your boat. The little islands NE of Otok Jakljan are beautiful.

Also you could cross over to Mljet. The bay on south side of SE corner is nice, and I like Okuklje on north side. at the dunbrovnik end of Mljet. Don't go too far west along the N coast of Mljet - it gets a bit boring.

Book lunch at Bowa- it's excellent. BOWA – Best Of What's Around

Not sure I'd go as far u p as blue cave in a 6.5m - there's so much to do closer. If you fancy along trip, Korcula is stunning and the anchorages just W and E of the actual town are also nice. The first wide anchorage 1 mile one just W of Korcula town is a favourite and worth a day - has nice beach bars

Loads of beach bars generally and I'd suggest after a day on the boat you taxi to Coral Beach club (10 mins from frapa) for a sunset drink/dinner. Uber is ubiquitous and the drivers speak EN well.

If you do get as far up as Hvar and thereabouts let us know and we can make suggestions for that area, but it feels too far

Have loads of photos but this forum is a bit clunky for that.

Lokrum is close and interesting, a quick boat down the coast will take you to Cavtat which has some nice places to eat. Heading North you can come round into Lapad, the Royal Hotels and resort has some nice bars and restaurants.

Good shout - a trip down to Cavtat is a very nice idea. The main harbour doesn't let you tie up because it is being refurbished but you can drive in to take a look and the very pretty quayside, then anchor in the bay next door (to the left, as you're approaching from Dubrovnik). BTW, and sorry if telling anyone how to suck eggs, it's pronounced Savtat not Kavtat, in case you were wondering

Remember to take plenty of Euros cash. Some places/shops are cash only, and no restaurant can accept a tip unless it's cash. Weird country on that score.

lots of good advice for Alt, I'll add some later,

but just one thing, for anybody visiting Cavtat,
the C in Cavtat is pronounced as TS, ( this is standard Croatian langeage, for this position of a C and not followed by a H)
so when you say TSavtat, you sound like a local,
anything else sounds like a tourist :) ;)

in random order,

- there is a "blue cave" on the SE tip of Kolocep the island is called Kalamota among the locals
- a bit further up N on the same side are the 3 green caves

- Sunj is a famous sandy beach on the S side of Lopud, popular among the locals
,
- the small island 'Supetar" in front of Cavtat, now has a mooring for small day boats, and it has a pub / restaurant (have not been there myself yet)

- Mljet is the furthest I would go, (not Korcula, nor Hvar !!) there are so many nice places in short region
the nicest anchorage / place on Mljet is Polace, one sailer said; this is the nicest anchorage in the Adriatic, ...

- Mlini, very nice cosy village near the sea, park your boat between 2 small boats , by pushing them sideway's, so you occupy no real "berth"
thats the best way for short time parkings, none of these small harbours have a "harbour master", (they might have one but you will never find one)
and when you ask for a short time place, the answer is: there is no place...
walk NW along the coast to Srebreno; nice walk, to a nice new sandy beach, a few food corners near the beach, continue you walk to a small yacht harbour, quai for perhaps 5 yachts.., say hello to Antonio ! (you could also go by rib to that harbour / quay, if you dant fancy the walking)
and continue your walk along the water, until Kupari, your in the middle of the remains of the war (quite depressing I must say)

list tb continued..
