Just read replies. Could consider cowes / river medina mid river pontoons (about £1000 from memory). Hayling yacht company are good value yard / drying pontoons. And Gosport Boat yard and moorings (not gosport marina, different company). Dell Quay boat yard should be good value.
Hayling Yacht Co - I was very happy there .. but OP has a budget that would not meet HYCO pontoon fees ...

I'm ex FS&MBC (my Father maintained family Membership) and ex resident of Fareham ..... later when I moved to Cowplain and wanted to join FS&MBC - it was refused as I was not Fareham resident and their 'Distant Member Quota' was full.
For interest's sake, they dropped the local residency requirement some time ago although when I was club secretary it was certainly in place. The problem was that people got round it by using a mate's local address which a bit naughty.

Perhaps they refused you because you didn't have a Jack Russell? ;)

Remember the Kimbers ? And the old ex army pontoon ?? The 'Coal Exchange; with the Miner Bird in cage over the door ... everytime someone entered - it would say "Shut the f****** door !"

Hi all I'm Trev

I'm looking for a real cheap mooring to renovate a yacht 30ft+ bilinge keel.

I'm going through a divorce so any location in the UK is possible.

My budget will be tight, so I believe drying out moorings to be the cheapest.

Also I'll be a frequent visitor as I'll have alot of work to do in a 12month period.

I believe council marinas are the cheapest but would I need to be a local resident to obtain one.

Again I'm willing to go anywhere in the UK.

Budget would be £1200 max but hopefully cheaper (or is that wishful thinking).

Thank you
there are drying out moorings in the bristol channel some of which are even free. But working on a boat which is miles down a muddy lane and needing supplies isnt going to be easy. You have a pm

Sounds familiar but I can barely rely on my memory these days I'm afraid. Coal Exchange definitely. I still call it that which confuses a lot of people who don't remember that name before it was changed. It was 1969 I had my first pint in there.
