Drying Out Alongside Oban Area

I used to dry out alongside the old stone pier at Craignure, for scrubbing and antifouling. Possibility alongside the east side of the North Pier at Oban.

Any problem with ferry wash at Craignure

No, totally unaffected by the ferry wash, but a strong NWly wind is not good. It's not really bad, but the bottom is gravel and small stones, which doesn't have much "give", when taking the ground.

It depends on what you want to do, and how many tides you want to be dried out for. Other possibilities are at Tobermory, alongside the fishermens pier, or on the north side of the stone pier at Lochaline. I once dried out on the slip at the boatyard at Kererra, (now Oban Marina), but I think they now have a pontoon berthed there, so it would be impossible.

I just need a mid season scrub. Its been so warm this year the bottom is looking very weedy. Its a lead keel so I need a soft bottom. No way I can afford a marina scrub.

The Kilmelford grid was railway sleepers set into something or other smooth.

Puffin Divers couple of miles to the South of Oban have a long gentle slipway and wall which is quite protected, may be worth a call.
