No sign of construction of the wave break as of last weekend, but I guess there won't be anything complicated about it.
As for 'Kent Online',............well-known for writing cr*p.................

Despite DHB reports that the wave wall had commenced in August last year and then again would start in November last year I believe that it is there now.

You are absolutely right. It is not yet there.I shouldn't believe any of the DHB 'puffs' nor those of Red7 the piling contractor -see the over enthusiastic wording of their 'news' of September 22.
Red7Marine Awarded Dover Marine Piling Contract
But today the piling platform is in position and they appear to be carrying out the preliminary work of proving the seabed .

I thought it was going to open on 1st April or was someone having a joke?
One of the best views in the world up there. Were you on top of the keep?

Yes , took the grandkids, had a job standing upright on the roof , it was breezy to say the least.
Great day out, some of us were absolutely knackered by the end of the day.
Best bit, a "Horrible Histories" type show, aimed at the under 12s detailing the various methods of executing miscreants in the middle ages, the instructors dressed in costumes of the period , this was followed by a more hands on practical "How to kill your opponent in battle with broadsword."
About a dozen little horrors were then invited to demonstrate their skills. **

The little darlings loved it, the adults appeared a little uncomfortable.
Very little going on down in the ferry port .

** Using wooden sticks.

I was born in Dover and we used to play war games in the castle which was free in those days. The Western Heights forts were derelict and out of bounds but not to those of us who knew how to get in. I had a dog who knew the area better than I did!

Well, the new Dover tidal marina is definitely open for business. Albeit sparsely populated, for now. Stargazer has just tied up in it. With Helen, one of the dock team taking our lines, no less. Most welcoming!
The new wave screen still has a work boat alongside, apparently carrying out finishing touches. The screen creates a, secondary, outer entrance about the width of the old Wick. Controlled by traffic lights operated by Port Control (like in the Wick).
Meteo C is forecasting NE 25-30kts, for the next couple of days. Should be a good test of how surge proof it all is. Fingers crossed….

PS: 24 hours on: smooth ride in here, on a day when the wind blew the washing horizontal and dried it in two hours flat!

Just a sub-inflationary rise: ‘bout 7% up on last year (in the Granville) and still a couple of £ a night cheaper than Ramsgate. For Stargazer anyway. She’s 9.5m. Which gets rounded to 10m in Ramsgate (where we paid £36.60). Here we’re paying £34.20 a night. (Not sure if Dover rounds us up or not)
