Watched a dog urinate on hose pipe stand in local marina while the owner looked on.I wish this person a force ten next time he's on the dog watch.

I can well believe it. I find just about all dog owners, whether on land or sea, totally lacking in consideration for others. I wonder how many tons of poo are left in public places country-wide each day? I was in Weymouth once when a dog crossed onto a neighbours boat and dropped a load on his teak deck. I'm sure dog owners will reply and say that this is perfectly acceptable.

There was a feature on C4 yesterday on this issue, a new campaign starring Ricky Tomlinson is starting now, can't make it soon enough for me. Nothing against dogs, despite all the maulings in a year they still do less harm to humans than humans, just wish their owners would clean up after them.

Utter nonsense.

a) It's true there are some stupid inconsiderate human beings who own dogs, don't deserve to, don't know how to train their dog properly - considerately - and who obviously don't give a stuff.
b) It's also true that there are many (considerate) owners that would condemn the kind of action referred to, and with contempt.

I detest public places strewn with dog faeces. It's horrible and some kind of potential health risk to boot. To allow a dog to foul someone else's boat, or a tap, is beyond belief. But there really are some complete b*st*rds around, aren't there? And doing all sorts of stupid stuff, on and off the water.

But that's some, and not all, of us.

So don't make untrue sweeping statements about humanity - or dog owners - in general, my friend. That's putting yourself in the same mindless category.

Rather on a par with 'the only good ......., is a dead ........"

Hi,

Just imagine some dinghy sailor in Chi harbour, or the family having a picnik on the beach or someone hauling in an anchor.

I doubt if too many yachts in the harbour have holding tanks as there is nowhere to pump them out. Dogs don't know any better. What's our excuse? Something to think about the next time you drop a warp in the water and then go and eat a biscuit. ;-)

Regards

Fred

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

To everyone, but no one in particular...... 'let them who are inocent of all sin cast the first stone'
Perhaps thats why bows and arrows were invented!!!
Some think that it would be a much better world if everyone were just like them 'perfect in every way'
Yeah...dream on!

I ve hated dogs ever since I was bitten at the age of 6 or 7. I hated them and their owners even more for allowing their animals to foul the foot paths and woodlands etc.

However after years of pestering from my daughters, Ive allowed one of these things into our home.. I does everything with us including sailing and its difficult to imagion life with out this friendly creature. The girls walk it morning and night, totally equiped with plastic gloves and bags etc.

There is no excuse for the behaviour you mentioned............

I just wish I could get those bloody sea gulls to crap in a bag..........

no it's completely unacceptable and yes I've got a dog. You buy the dog, you take responsibility and deal with it. It's the only way.

You're right it's all up to the owner.

I must admit though that of all the dogs I've met on various pontoons I've never met one that I could fault. (And I don't have a dog). I'm sure that the sea makes them happier!
