Does anyone recognise this type of Volvo Penta engine?

Thanks but it’s a 3 cylinder and the lump to the left of the rad cap is totally different.

Is it the md2020? Which from memory was initially the Perkins Perama and then rebadged as a Volvo Penta 2020.

Or MD2030 or MD2040? IIRC correctly both are three cylinder. The 2040 certainly is and I know that because I’ve rebuilt one!

That's the Volvo version, the Perkins M30 just has a little steel intake.

Thanks. The engine in my picture doesn’t have that ‘fuse box’ on the side.

Top tip: if you ever get intermittent starting … control panel dead, then live … there’s a really simple spade terminal that goes into that box that just needs crimping tighter … they can vibrate lose.

The first picture is identical to my Perkins M20 except sprayed green instead of blue maybe an early 2020,there were 4 variants A,B,C and D the early ones using the Lucas A127 alternator same as the Perkins but later models used a different alternator along with different more comp!icated electrics.
