Definitely drop the motor and gearbox off the capstan, take it all home and get it on a good strong bench.
The motor is held to the gearbox with 2 very long and snappable bolts. These sheared off when I tried to take them off, and I ended up renewing the bolts with stainless studding. The brushes are a nightmare to change, and that rubber thing keeps slamming against your fingers whilst you get your mits in there. Before you start to take it all apart, give the old brushes a damn good blow over with a dry airline. Rotate the commutator whilst doing this, and get all the bits out. Keep your mouth, eyes, nose, ears and any other orifice closed when you do this /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When re-attaching the gearbox to the capstan, pile up enough chain under the motor to do most of the lifting for you, then push it up enough to get a couple of nuts on.

After you have reconnected the wires, try the up/down button to make sure the thing is predictable, reversing the wires to correct if required.
Finally, once all re-terminated, give all the connections a good spray over with silicone spray.
Should keep going for 15 minutes now, at least!
