ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO IN THE BOAT MART MAGAZINE I SAW AN ARTICLE ON
CLIMAX DIESEL OUTBOARD ENGINES BUT IVE SEEN NOTHING SINCE. ANYBODY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM, ALSO I FANCY ONE DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE OF DIESEL OUTBOARDS.

Yamaha had one on their stand at LBS, about 25hp I think it was. Can't imagine you'd see 100 or 200hp in a diesel outboard. imagine a KAD42 or 44 turned up on end!

Have used diesel outboards on a diving support launch under commercial conditions (a pair of 25 hp Yamahas). We used diesel because petrol is nigh impossible to get and the 'mother ship' ran on diesel.
They performed very adequately with no down time and very little maintenance.

Yamaha make one, so do a couple of other people, normaslly used in the third world or on comercial ferries, heavy noisy for the power they produce, not really a leisure machine.
