I do think the mag's could be a bit more creative though, they only have to ask us lot on here for descriptions of when it all went well and why we keep at it...

I can't speak for mags other than YM but I know that they will always welcome well-written, interesting articles. I was told by one of the staff some time ago that 90% of the articles submitted are unusable for a whole variety of reasons, such as boring, illiterate, repetitive etc.

They must have my address or my mag wouldn't get here but I will check with their subscription dept.

I usually get a reminder. Check with their subscriptions dept to ensure that they have you on their mailing list.

I suspect that the move by Time Inc. to demand that all contributors sign their oppressive "all rights" agreement will mean the loss of good contributors. I have written a few articles for PBO in the past, and have one draft article currently with the editor, but as I have not signed the new rights agreement I doubt anything of mine will be published again.

P.S. apart from the current one, every article I have ever submitted has been published.

Just seen PBO on Twitter exhorting people to buy their back-issue articles. The page they link to has lots of them now at nine quid! Seven was bad enough, and we've been saying for years that they should charge less and they'd sell more, but they seem to be going in the opposite direction!

Well I can put two words together and seem to have won prizes for English at school, but when I have submited articles the response I got was : about red bicycle lights for night vision - Might be confusing to Admirals ' re passing Portland Race ' Too frightening '.

In the unlikely event the non- female non-sailing part of the set-up ask about real life not what skirt and blusher to wear on a Sunseeker, I might bother again...

I stopped buying it last year as I got totally fed up with the drivel from Dave Selby and Andrew Simson, same old boring stuff month after month, at least Sam Llewellyns page changed monthly and he talked some sense.

Last edition I bought last year out of 122 pages there was 33 full pages of adverts not counting the halve page adverts, plus it must take them minutes to update the 'Chart updates' another two full pages and we all like to read about a cruise but not 13 pages of it, on the plus side I always liked the 'ask the experts' section.

Its a pity as what was a good boat mag has sadly lost it's way

YM contributors are not being asked to sign. As an occasional PBO contributor I was sent the letter but did not sign it. I have heard from others who did not sign that their work has been printed recently.
