I'm looking, very unsuccessfully so far, for a deep cockpit bilge keel 35 footer preferably made recently as opposed to the 80's. The deep cockpit is needed to make SWMBO feel safe but increasingly boatbuilders give a stern cabin which reduces cockpit depth dramatically. And the boat needs to be able to take to the ground in the area I sail bilge or lifting is the only practical monohull option. And I fancy a mono this time round.

So over to you for the collective wisdom of the forum

What's wrong with 80's boats?

Have you looked at the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35 Lift Keel. I liked it so much, I bought one!! I also have a propensity for East Coasting, and look forward to saving lots of money on moorings.....
Not sure about the cockpit depth. Seemed deep enough for me in front of the wheel.

Colvic Countess 33 or Furia 35 (same boat with a bathing platform), great boat, strong & with excellent sea keeping. What's more, my neighbour has a bilge keel Furia for sale here on the Hamble, happy to pass on numbers etc.

Therein lies the problem

Bilge keels and recent and deep cockpit.

Bilge keels seem to be a particularly British affectation, so you have to look for a British-built boat. But recent? AFAIK the only 'British' builders with bilge keelers in the range is Luhrs with its . – OK, but they are all in the modern idiot, with aft fornicatoria and shallow cockpits, and you either likem or loathem – or British Hunter, but they are a tad small for your spec. Methinks you will have to step back in time.

OTOH, Northshore's Southerly range of lift keelers are in current production, and offer a deck saloon which will make SWMBO feel even more secure.
