Im planing to spend a year or more (or less) in Demark Sweden perhaps Finnland??

Just now im looking (but havent found) some sort of online list of ports for Sweden and Denmark, To see where they are and aproxamatly how much it will cost per night for a Folkboat to stay also an idea of wintering costs,???Any idea of approxamat price PN charged and where???

Has anyone used a boat yard? is there a time limit how much dose a lift out/in cost
Are there online boat shops to buy varnish anti fouling vhf and bits and pieces general.

Can i anchor are there restrictions? like the 500meter one in France.
What sort of anchors best?? i always use a Danforth and CQR but for rock do i need something else?? Is the bottem mostly rock??? is there good holding

Are ther places i "must" go? are there bays that i "must" anchor??

Does Denmark suffer with MOBOs and Jet skis Does Sweden?

Food are there supermarkets? are the prices normal? or double the UK France??
Willi have to take a day trip to Poland for shopping??

Is there internet wi-fi anywhere??

During june to september will i need my full English musto kit or just a normal tea shirt and shorts??
Can you swim in the sea without suffering hypotermia???

Should i buy charts in France England Denmark and or Sweden ??

As you can see i havent a clue!!

untill i began planing i dident realise just what little idea i had about this region!! France Italy Spain even N africa i would happly sail off to knowing what to expect where to ask for info, Even sailing in the cold empty UK(as everyones left for France /Spain) i would know what to expect---tide and rain!!

But the Baltic even if i re read the riddle of the sands it dosent help as he dident include a port guide price annex??

Anyone ever been there even ages ago i need advice and info and links to info PLEASE!!!!

I'm off to the Stockholm boat show next week, if I find anything usefull I'll let you know you could have a look at their web site for contacts but to be honets its not a great site, and only some seems to be in English.
I'll be doing some cruising there in the summer so have similar questions ...

For Sweden. Just write nothing in the search box for the complete list.

>Can i anchor are there restrictions? like the 500meter one in France.

Sweden: you can anchor everywhere except when marked otherwise in the charts.

>What sort of anchors best?? i always use a Danforth and CQR but for rock do i need >something else??

They will work nicely. There are a lot of rocks, but the bottom is mostly mud.

>Are ther places i "must" go? are there bays that i "must" anchor??

No, you can anchor wherever you want. We often moor bows to land with a stern anchor. You may more on private land, but not use private jettys and buoys.

>Does Denmark suffer with MOBOs and Jet skis Does Sweden?

Yes, especially in the Stockholm archipelago. But there are some restrictions such as speed limits at several places. You will survive.

>Food are there supermarkets? are the prices normal?

Thanks to EU prices are coming down. But differences can be great between different stores.

>During june to september will i need my full English musto kit or just a normal tea >shirt and shorts??

T-shirt and shorts will probably do in july and august, sweater and jeans will probably do in june and september. You will need foulies of course when it's raining it can get cold.

>Should i buy charts in France England Denmark and or Sweden ??

This is a good question. Don't know what they do charge in UK or France.

>But the Baltic even if i re read the riddle of the sands

The Riddle of the Sands is on the North Sea Coast mostly, only one chapter in the beginning is in the Baltic :)

Of course. But there are so many places you will never come home if you visit them all. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I had a week's cruising around the Finnish archipelago from Turku (aka Abo) two years' ago. Terrific sailing place water warm enough to swim in, not crowded, only place we had to pay for a berth was Hankko - fantastic marina all facilities plus sauna for 25 euros a night (or was it 18?). Winds F2 - 6 and plenty of nude crumpet. Finns are good fun and have a great sense of humour like the Danes and most speak good English. Just keep it under your hat or it will end up full of south coast yachties!

yes the whole lot will come up from the med where they have ruined it, and buy houses in the region so that us ordinary folk cant get a plumber. Add the fact that its not as far for the few left in the uk, And they all have jetskis as a tender horror.

Yes Finland seems to be great, i know lots of Finns, for some reason almost all have there families living in Sweden? Really nice woman though really.
The fly in the ointments the season which is to short and winters that have to have the boats on land.
It does seem wonderful all the same

You should try the area around Orust/Smogen on the west coast about 20miles north of Gothenberg, we had 2/3 weeks sailing last year, the sailing is fantastic with small islands with harbours with plenty of space although late June onwards gets very busy, they are only a few miles apart
Prices are not that much dearer in the supermarkets and fresh fish is plentiful and very good
You can leave your boat nrear to Gothenberg and fly out of Save airport to either Stanstead or Prestwick for a few pounds
Get your charts in Sweden, they sell a portfollio of nearly the complete west coast and is very good (about £30)
If you need to know anymore PM me

Did you bring your Najad back from Orust??

I sailed a new 511 back to the Hamble last year. Lovely boat.

If you're ever short of crew, give me a shout . . .
