Damaged Russian ship with cargo of explosive fertiliser anchored off Margate.

Anchored off 3km off Margate at the entrance to the Thames is a Russian ship that ran aground earlier and has cracked her hull. Her cargo is ammonium nitrate, the same fertiliser that caused a massive explosion in Beruit harbour in 2020, except it is carrying 7 times as much. She has already been ordered to leave Tromso, Norway, but why has she not returned to Russia?

MSN
i think the answer to why it hasnt returned to russia lies in the 'cracked her hull' statement.
or is that too much common sense?

3km off Margate? I just looked on vessel finder and she is currently showing as 14Nm off the coast, so closer to 26km. Possibly a risk to a few passing seagulls, but nothing to justify all the press attention that this ship seems to be getting. Ammonium nitrate (on its own) is not that dangerous.
sounds like a whole load of the usual mass hyperbole scaremongering hystrionics from MSM, anything to create a story, and if it isnt scary enough, change some of the 'facts'.
i think 'news' outlets that propagate these blatant lies need to be prosecuted and people doing time.
unless blatantly lying to the public to sell 'news' doesnt constitute fraud?

But would you want to have a berth close to it.
who in all hell is going to have a berth 40km offshore???.
lunacy if you ask me.

on the other hand, if mars was further away from earth, how many meteors would impact earth that wouldnt have ordinarily done so?

'imagine rafting up alongside that and unknowingly lighting a fag'

or 'imagine if all the elephants in the world farted at once!'

its purely the stuff of schoolgrounds.

in my memory, i believe the IRA used to explode farm fertilisers by simply adding diesel or oil, in an airtight container
i could be wrong.
but as has been said many times in this thread, the stuff is transported all the time without incident.
besides, i believe margate is somewhere near to london, so even if the worst were to happen, it wouldnt cause any harm to the civilised world.

If it'd come into Southampton, I wouldn't be making plans to move onto Jazzcat in Gosport.
Last time I was in Gosport there was a rather big aircraft carrier just up the river. Do they take all the weapons off that when it is tied up?

You are wrong, it's true they used Ammonium Nitrate and diesel mix but it needs a detonator.

i wouldnt have thought they take any off it at all, bit pointless having a 'combat ready' fleet that has to wait for reloading before it can set sail.
although i have heard that the queen li carrier is anything but combat ready, being beset with problems from the start, something to do with the french systems onboard.
members are invited to register their disbelief at such a notion, below.

It's now in Gt. Yarmouth's Outer Harbour - Some might say it's now even further from civilisation
you know what them crafty russians are up to dont you.
sneaking it into 10 downing street by the back door.
kiers going to have a field day blaming everything wrong with the country on the russians after this.
