A friends son, age 20, is seeking work aboard yachts in the Med. He has "STCW 95 , powerboat2 , Eng 1 and lots of tender and sailing experience and raced at Cowes etc this year too". Any suggestions where he might look?
What STCW'95 tickets has he got?
Wow. And to think I'm happy if my crew can tie a bowline.
It was a five day course at UKSA - summary below:
STCW Personal Survival Techniques (STCW A-VI/1-1)
STCW Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention (STCW A-VI/1-2)
STCW Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3)
STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (STCW A-VI/1-4)
Proficiency in Security Awareness (STCW code Reg A-VI/6-1)
I got the impression that the guy is looking for paid work, but he could, so to speak, work his passage to the Caribbean by crewing on an ARC boat, but he would need to ensure beforehand that there was a chance of a job in that area when he got there.Maybe still time to whip down to the canaries for the start of the ARC. Always a few people looking for last minute crew.
