Sorry to sound rude, and I don't care about the rules so much as want the crewing section to be used.

Hokay jerry. I gotta say that your posts on this matter haven't just "sounded" rude - they definitely ARE rude. I don't want you be labouring under the idea that other people are somehow misinterpreting you - calling people "smartarse" aa you did is prima facie rudeness, and not a vague facsimile thereof. I thought you owned the forum, others thought you must be well-known to me for that sort of e-kicking. But not to worry, apology accepted.
HOWEVER..., the very thing you want me and others to do (use the other forum) is now much LESS likely to happen, innit? That's cos you delivered the command in a harsh and destructive manner. You can perhaps do that in a (say) military or penal-institution environment where the threat of instant physical etc discipline is always at hand., although even then it won't be very effective in all instances.
But it's definitely not appropriate in most walks of life these days, even sailing a boat where yeah, it's not a democracy but there again, it's supposed to be fun, an unpaid pastime.
A much better way would have been to say summink like "hey tcm that looks like a fun gig - I wonder if you could also post it in the crewing section?" or suggest that perhaps i just leave a header and one-liner here and the main chat about the gig in the crewing section?? We/I could have got the mods to make the adjustments and then lo! lots of people would have nipped over there, just like you want. Instead, they're gonna be avoiding it even more now, cos it seems that the crewing section is principally populated by fascists. See? One quite important aspect of modern life is getting other people to do what you want AND ensure that they feel great about doing so, to the extent that they improve and over-perform often above and beyond what you could have dared to ask or reasonably expected. It's not a trick or being conniving or conspiratorial or a long-winded namby-pamby substitute for shouting or delivering harsh commands - it's a hugely important element of skippering a happy and hence more effective and safer boat, or running any sort of team or organisation, big or (especially) small.
Hope this helps
