It’s never moved that efficiently before - is it a freebie trip for councillor Dave and his mates who bought this white elephant? You just cannot believe the incompetence of them if you didn’t read it in the county press.

I agree that the reliabilty is just incompetence, it could easily be made reliable.

The real issue in my mind is the size of it and the problem that causes during the spring ebb. Which is partly the fault of the previous councillors, but also I think it was a SEEDA vanity project, they had money to burn in East Cowes, it just had to be bigger and better.

I just dont bother. I go round.

The problem it causes me is when my Red Jet home is cancelled, a hundred foot pax need to cross, if the white elephant is out of action we have a long wait to cross 12 at a time.

Or, the Red Funnel arrives, disgorges 100 foot pax, just as they arrive the white elephant c**ts lower the barrier and f**k off leaving us to wait in a biting wind. Just as they did recently. No joined up thinking.

I feel sorry for the residents of east cowes and for those who work in essential business there. I remember speaking in the long que as a foot passenger to a locus chemist ,the gist of her conversation being it took her so long to get to Soton via relieve chain ferry that was giving up the job. Clearly if not already ongoing fresh roadworks at st Mary’s to coincide . That said looks a lovely day today out on Solent if you have to wait for your river trip??

That sounds like the level of expert project management we've already seen with the ferry/
There's a special committee on the Island that deals with roadworks planning. The main challenge they generally have to solve is to make sure when any (relatively) main road must be dug up then any possible alternative route should also be dug up concurrently.
The secondary challenge is to ensure when water/ gas / BT / Wight Fibre or electricity need access to dig up a road, they have to take their turn with a week or so in between time thus ensuring the maximum delays

They excelled recently.

Fairlee Rd closed and they closed the roundabout at the top of Long Lane.

Chale to East Cowes was right f**k about.

I suspect they would also need to put the ramps back to the way they were ,no doubt the council would oversee the contact and they wouldn’t up blowing up a few houses in the process. I’m off to the recycling centre tomorrow having booked online an exciting morning out so will ask where they put the scrapped ferries .

Although Cllr Dave & Co bogged up commissionIng and warranty claim and legals, it was the previous Indy administration that ordered it - Cllr Bacon and friends. Back in office now, and conveniently suffering from selective recollection.
