Coppercoat - Pros & Cons

Copper coat will give you a price per lt if you ask for it , but as some one who copper coated two boat , it just as easy to give them the size and make of boat and they will tell you had much you need .
What can be easier, big boy :)
What could be easier? Put the price next to the tin etc as i just asked. Mummy loves me as well.

Endearing new member... sorry to sound unwelcoming but its an old thread. New forumites often pick up old threads instead of joining current ones or starting new ones of their own. Picking up old threads is normally tedious for all sorts of reasons.

The information does not change and is still currant. A lot of the information on here does not date. I think copper coat is still much the same.
I tend to disagree. The information changes as people have more experience of a product. But, chill and light a cigar the sun is shining and I need to do battle with a fuel tank in the morning!

Why bother to even answer me oh God of posts?

I would just like to say that i am still learning off these old threads as the issues seem not to date. We are not talking sextants here.....why would you even be on these old threads applying your cynicism with me?

Er um. No cynicism in tended, just a working life as a professional engineer and an understanding of how things change over time.

When you "resurrect" an old thread, it brings it back to the top of the forum, people then wade in with additional posts. It is a common issue and us old timers on here are often surprised when a new user posts does this. There is a wealth of knowledge contained within the forum but far more "noise".

Oh, I do love my sextant, a Davis 25. What type do you use and what are your preferred tables?

I am delighted to say that my battle with the fuel tank was won and the engine is back up and running.

I have 2 sextants, one i used and one that was given to me. The one i used was Japanese and when i dig it out i will give you the make. Now it is at least 20 years since i took a sight so my memory is sketchy. Air navigation tables and selected stars ring a bell. I seem to remember doing the odd one with some funny sounding name Hevilier method. Think that was more the method then the name of the tables. (Marcq St. Hilaire method ) I googled it. I dont think i could remember how to take one now.

A simex r mk3 on the left and a Veb Freiburger on the right. Have only ever used the jap one for real. If i went back to using one i would go with the DDR one as it is of far better quality. I will in all likely hood turn on my GPS though. I have tried to post a photo but it is alas beyond me.

There are lots of things that can go wrong when applying coppercoat. We had some issues with professionals not understanding how to apply Coppercoat correctly. Here is a video that looks at correct and incorrect finishes under a microscope and also looks at the correct way to burnish prior to launch..

I hope this helps anyone thinking of using coppercoat!
