Now that we've got all our hydraulic pipes, I need to fit them all together and route them through the boat.

Question is: Do I need some sort of sealant when connecting pipes to fittings? (T pieces, adapters, etc.)
The fittings are all the compression fitting kinds with angled bits that can be tightened up nicely. I read that I shouldn't use PTFE tape or anything like that.
So, am I ok to just tighten them up like a good'n or do I need something else on there?

When I worked in high pressure gas research we were making up Swagelok fittings regularly. They ran training sessions, at the end of which compression fittings were made up by everyone on the course. Pressure was then applied hydraulically until the tubing burst. If the fitting failed before the tubing, you failed. No sealant was ever used.
