Comar CSB200 AIS MMSI reset

Thanks for the response, I know it SHOULD be sent back to Comar but is there any way I can do it myself?

I didn't say it should be sent back to Comar, I said "It has to be sent back to Comar". That means it's something you can't do yourself (unless perhaps you work for Comar).

It's not black magic, it's circuitry like a MMSI number in an Icom radio, it should go back to the supplier but there's no reason it can't be done by the owner provided the correct procedures are followed.

Anyone?

I know this is an old topic.
Does anyone know how to reset the MMSI using Pro Ais?
I bought one secondhand but need to change the mmsi.
There appears to be no dealership in the netherlands.

PaulRainbow, this is just a link to ProAis for an Emtrak.
My question: How to reset the MMSI (factory locked) for a Comar CBS200 transponder, USING the ProAIS software?
(I have the software)

Sorry i didn't guess you had the software already, but ProAIS is ProAIS, no matter what the compatible AIS is labelled as.Depending on the age/model of AIS you may need ProAIS 1 or ProAIS2, both are almost identical in use to set the MMSI.

Install the software, connect to the AIS via USB and start the software. Click the "configuration" tab. Change the MMSI, hit the "Save data to AIS" button.

If this does not work with a Comar AIS, get in touch with them.

I'm afraid Paul is giving you incorrect advice. You cannot change the MMSI through ProAIS 1 or 2 without sending a specific serial command to the unit. The API doesn't support it for obvious reasons.

Yes, you are correct, i was thinking of programming from new. If the OP wants to contact me by PM i'll see if i can assist further.

I got it working, I got the reset code from a dealer, since it is an old unit and not for sale anymore.
Now, I got a cheap Aliexpress GPS antenna, it took an hour to get some satellites, it needed to build up a database I guess.
It did send out AIS data for a short while but then it stopped. Probably to weak a signal.
In order an proper GPS antenna...tbc!
