Canoes are generally not cut out to be stand on vessel, as they don't seem to ever be able to maintain a course or speed.

It's a while since that court case and I've forgotten the details. But wasn't the point that the MCA tried to claim (in order to bring a particular piece of law to bear) that they were more than just "vessels", they were ships? The judge threw that out because a jetski is plainly not a ship.
