Today in Buckingham town centre the collecting buckets were out.

There, all alone, smiling happily, was our local MP and speaker of the house John Bercow.

He was taking money for a good cause and handing out stickers.

Not a sign of a security man anywhere. One of our great officers of state being able to interact with his voters.

He says he is not a sailor but thinks that the RNLI is a thoroughly good thing.

England is a blooming brilliant place to live and there are times when its worth counting a few blessings I reckon
