Hi Magnum

Have been following your story closely, like many others I guess. Someone posted on here a few years ago pictures of the Bordeaux 60, have admired the design ever since.

Are you planning on any stops en route, I'm sure a few members of the CBYA (Costa Blanca Yacht Association) here in Calpe would make you feel quite welcome. We have our own version of the Rock of Gibraltar, ours is known as the Peñon d'Ifach, always a pleasant place to stop for a beer or two.

Hi Blade. Our route east is quite flexible at the moment so if you have a suggestion for a marina with ample depth (4m) and enough space for us (18.38x5.18m) then I'd be very happy to consider it. Any social element would be an unexpected but welcome bonus

Hi Magnum, thanks for the reply, have popped down to Calpe marina this morning, can accommodate your size and depth, according to their website can take up to 30m. Had spaces available today but they couldn't guarantee towards end of the week (typical spanish reply), they suggested contacting them the day before your planned arrival - I presume if you telephoned and booked for a particular day they should be able to confirm either way. Yes we (wife and daughter) live here all year round, have done for nearly 11 years. Will certainly be around for the next 10 days - have a work commitment on the 11th August during the morning only.

Will probably stay here a few days as there is some weather coming in.

It's just 87 miles from Cartagena to Calpe so perfectly doable during daytime.

Time.

We had 100 miles to do yesterday and only had 10 knots behind us for a short time with 6-8 knots being the norm. There's no way we could have made reasonable progress in those conditions.

We saw a few that were sailing but they were going very slowly indeed.

Blade, it is our intention to be in Calpe Friday evening, leaving Cartagana that morning. The lady in the marina office initially said I had to call her on Friday morning for berth availability but I persuaded her to accept a Thursday evening call. If there's no room I'm not sure what we'll do. Maybe anchor outside the marina?
