CNB Bordeaux 60 - in build (pics)

Magnum, seven days with no new photos. Surely you have not been that busy?

Stingo, there are plenty of other threads without photos if you find this one a little annoying. A number of other members do enjoy these updates and I am learning a great deal from more experienced sailors regarding boat design.

However, if I've misunderstood you and you are really just champing at the bit for more photos, fear not I'm going to the yard on Monday :D

(By the way, I enjoyed the photos on your blog a great deal ;))

Ah Magnum, I have a weakness for photos of beautiful boats ~ hence me getting a little demanding. So the more you post, the happier I am.

Stunning boat and great pictures.

Just one question - do you intend to sail with just yourself and Mrs Magnum as that's a huge boat to handle?

The biggest monohull my wife and I ever chartered was a 45 footer and I don't think we can handle more than that (although electric winches and a bowthruster would certainly have helped). :)

Looks like a prime boat to raft alongside... and I understand that there will be a free champagne bar..

you mean b*ggers ! After 'sharing' in the build of this boat on the forum, the very least you can do is offer to bring Magnum a contribution to the wine-cellar. :)

If he joins us in Ipswich I would be more than happy! Does that thing have a lift keel?

For day sailing, yes, but for longer passages we will need some help. For example on maiden voyage under my command from Guernsey to Alderney and then Plymouth the next day there will be a minimum of 3 including myself. Ideally I want 4 but I'm not sure whether the 4th person can make it. When we sail South across Biscay in July I'll want 6 onboard to keep watches sensible. Then probably 4 down to Gib.

I may be looking for crew!

Well that would be nice, but in any case we will be having a "boat-warming" in Salcombe within a few days of our arrival in the UK and any interested forumites will be most welcome :)

I'm at your service whenever you'll need one :)

Just got back from Bordeaux. Still buzzing :)

Just one pic for now. Will post more tomorrow as soon as time permits

the third batten up looks like it needs a little bit more tension - I'm happy to come out and show you ... ;)

Actually - serious bit - have you sorted how you're going to get up and down the mast? If so what method have you chosen? I guess you've got powered winches so could be fairly easy ... but do you have 3 lines to the masthead?

I like that Park Avenue boom. Quite a definite end-plate effect. Is it fitted with drains to collect rainwater ?

( If jfm had a boom like that, it would have LEDs built in everywhere ;) )

What are the three black units on the leech please. For clew reefing points ?

Lovely stuff, Magnum; sounds as if the cost:reward ratio is moving in your favour big-time !

That's right.

As for rainwater drains - who knows! I'm sure all will become clear in time.

PS - Not sure why someone just voted this thread down to 2 stars. It doesn't seem a very friendly thing to do :(
