c\'mon then ..... famous last words ...

Let's all post those immortal words we have heard / uttered when boating or otherwise ....

There are howlers out there going unsung and need to be enjoyedv by the masses .....

Famous words have been uttered in all walks and incidents ..... like Custers .... "Where'd all the f....... Indians come from ??"

Postman at the door handing over the odd-shaped plain brown paper parcel ..... "Here's your 'toy' young lady ..."

But what about salty sea ones ??

1) My crew have never let me forget my saying 'oh bollocks' as the the tide pushed us to one side of the outlier rock to the north of Herm. Chart has been marked up as bollocks rock ever since.
2) After beating all night towards Raz de Sein across Auderiene Bay I said 'it will be easier when we bear away through the Raz'. It was till we came out of the shelter of the Islands and got knocked down at the top of a big swell and 50kt gust. Exit stage right pronto for beers in Morgat.

After doing a 'paint' job on the deep south of USA manned 'USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jnr.' (Yes. That was its real name) in Amsterdam we were approached in a Southsea bar by several large black sailors of said ship. We were braced for fisticuffs when their 'leader' smiled and said, "Lemme buy you guys a drink, I was on duty last night and I saw you b*****ds, and I knowed what you was up to, but I'll be danged if I was going to tell them white trash on my boat". It was a very good night after that.
