If Sunday night is not an option we could do Saturday lunch there? If we got away from Cumbraes in decent time we could probably be in Lochranza by lunchtime, spend a couple of hours there, then up to Portavadie by early evening. All weather dependant of course.

Sounds like a great idea, just the problem of getting away early. Should be easily doable if the weather is right. From memory it's only 10 miles or 2 hours from Lochranza to portvadie so even if we didn't get away from there until 4 it still means we arrive at Portavadie in good time.

We were in Lochranza in late October, after a long gap elsewhere. We came down from Portavadie in about the time suggested .
There are many more visitor buoys than in previous years. And of course a pontoon to land on if need be (if they get it back out by then!).
And the bar at the Hotel is within easy walking distance...
Lochreanza also boasts a smal but REAL butcher's shop -Stornoway black pudding, smoked rashers etc etc. More costly than Brodick Co-op but I believe in supporting smaller shops when I can.
Not a bad idea

If the weather is spectacular, can we go to Lochranza?
I need an Arran distillery top up.

Sahona splashed today (but not finished yet). Don't know if she* will be happy about going back so soon. I want to but...

That good butcher is one of the firemen that turned out at 0600 on a dreich Sunday to keep us afloat, so by all means give him your custom!

* the 'she' could be Sahona or Kath - you choose.

Glad to hear it Bill. Nothing like getting back on the Bike as soon as you fall off. I bet you wont sleep well at anchor for a while though.

Not very nice describing someone's wife like that Ian, and then assuming Bill gets up to Hanky Panky while on moorings!
You have put your foot in it this time Ian!!
In that case I hope you were meaning Sahona, Bill, when using "she*:D

:eek: You ARE awful,.. aft cabin is subjudice.

The starter motor , which was working before they had to fix it, is shorted for the second time...and we're in 'beginning of season' mode trying to get the rest of the bits to work.
Time is running out, but we'd like to be there - yes , even Lochranza.

Mmmmm. Stornoway black pudding, smoked bacon and Arran malt. A breakfast fit for kings!

Work, weather and women permitting, Ladybird will be there.

If my work schedule holds together until April, :) I'll do my best to be there..having failed miserably previously due to work...

Lochranza can be nice, though if strongish S/SE , or NW is a gusty place.
I think my favourite "pub" stops are the Oyster Catcher at Otter Ferry, and Colintraive Hotel.

Is it just me that thinks Arran Malt is a bit hardcore for breakfast? The fryup I could manage.

The good ship Silkie, with fryup and Malt. It can be done, if you are hardcore......

Count me in - although I might not be able to afford it being accidentally retired. I will probably be on Capricious with at lease FullCircle pulling all the ropes as I lie back and issue orders!

All being well, the owner and commander of Capricious will be doing the lying back and issuing orders, while the crew wish that they had someone nice like Captain Bligh in charge!

Calli and I hope to make it, all being well.

PS. Calli reckons she will be issuing the orders!
