Cleaning bad fender marks on hull

Hello all

I have been left with some really bad fender marks on the hull and have been advised to use acetone on them. Will this damage the gel coat?
Or what else would you use to leave the hull nice and shiny with no damage?

Acetone is fine if used sparingly, better than using an abrasive compound.

I always treat acetone as my solvent of last resort, try white spirit or sticky stuff remover first

I have used acetone many times and never had issues. I have never noticed any damage to the gel coat but it does remove any wax on it. So it's a good idea to apply some new wax on the affected area.

They're good but remember they're effectively very fine sandpaper so will reduce gel thickness.

ajax or vim does the job or try elbow grease spray.

I would start with a boat cleaner, such as Starbrite or International, and then move on to white spirit and possibly acetone, though I have never had to use the latter other than for specific tasks.

Starbrite Hull cleaner is excellent - designed for marks etc.
Magic erasers - excellent and even if they are very fine abrasive (and I think they are at a technical level)
