Clacton and Walton Lifeboats

As you raise it, there is no need for a new station at Walton as the boat could operate from the Backwaters at minimal costs but from an operational perspective, Harwich can cover the Walton patch so this is all about hearts and minds and has been handled badly.👎🏻
Can't see the point. Harwich breakwater to Pye End is 1nm. Harwich lifeboat to Pye End is 2nm. Titchmarsh is more like 3.5nm to Pye End - with a load of moorings to go through (surely not at full throttle).

My understanding is that there are speed limits in the Backwaters.

From https://pmsc.org.uk/misc/Walton Backwaters Speed Limit Notice.pdf

"The maximum permitted speed limits within Walton Backwaters (or Hamford Water as it is
now officially known) have recently been re-defined as follows:
• 8 knots in seaward approaches to The Backwaters and in West Water
• 6 knots in all creeks and channels leading off West Water
• 4 knots or less in congested boating areas e.g. vicinity of quays etc.
• In all areas, speeds are to be reduced to prevent boat wash from adversely
affecting other water users, wild-life, built and natural environments
• The only exceptions are for sail racing dinghies and rescue craft"

I'm not sure if "rescue craft" only applies to the sailing club's boats or if would include a lifeboat but the thought of a big mobo moving at high speed close to children and novices in sailing dinghies is the stuff of nightmares.

Is this still rattling on? And why? Surely the decision was made due to the pier issues and the changes already implemented.
Life moves on.
(As noted previously, there are hugely bigger deals between lifeboat stations elsewhere in the UK - there seems to be no gap caused here.)
Agree a done deal. I am just responding to points made by others.

By the way, Hamford Water (also known as West Water) is but one part of a much larger area called the Backwater and yes it is covered by speed limits.

As said before, locally, now it is seldom discussed but has left a nasty taste that has done the RNLI no favours.
