Hi,

A friend of mine is arranging a "mini" city boat show in St Catherines Dock May 9th to 13th. Usuall suspects are providing new boats Sunseeker, Sealine etc even a Bahia 48 is promised and some second hand boats. Jaguar are gonna have some flashy cars there to add to the occasion so should be interesting.

He has offered me 10 free tickets and suggests that Thursday night would be good as Jaguar are having a launch party that night. If anyone fancies going let me know.

Re: Actually ...

i wondered as soon as i posted. That'll learn me.

anyway, a boat show-ette, quite a nice idea i suppose. nneds a bit more notice and MBY could have publicised it. As it is, they cd always wander over and get lashed at the Dicken's Inn pub - er I mean... write an indepth article covering all aspects of this new exciting show for their readers.

I wouldn't mind going. Is there a website with times, exhibitors, etc and details how to get tickets?

Also, I didn't think Jagwar made any flashy cars, not since the early 80s, so that might be wuth a look too :)

Re: jagoowah

I had an xk8 once. In fact, work partner + I had one each, from the same dealer, hoperfully ensuring grovelly service for when it when bang. Salesman slightly put out at the notion of it going bang, and of our stories of owning crappy 1969 Series 1 XJ6 costing £400 as a student, but no matter. Anyway, salesman got promoted to another branch, so nobody knew who we were. Also, the blimmin thing has a LED which says "too fast" if you hold 125 or more for any length of time. I rang and askedem what was wrong and they said I was going too fast. Also the seats are crap. Also quite few bits are ford. Best thing about a jag is great respect on the road, as everyone assumes you are countrified flag-waving true blue old git, not on motorways particularly (need a lambo or at least a ferrari) but for dong ridiculous 9-point turns in the high street without anybody tooting at all. Good car for not going anywhere very much, better than awful XJS, not as dodgy as an e-type but at least they looked the absolute part....

Well i dont really know the whole deal yet ...its being organised by one of the Sealine sales guys.. I didn't get time to speak to him much as was being dragged off to a meeting but story goes something like this... Invited by chum who is taking his boat their to sell it.. I had not heard about it and was much miffed as St Katherines Yatch Haven (to use its full and correct name :)) is just down the road from work and fav place to hang out and gawp at boats...Turns out i knew chap who is organising it. He is usually on the Sealine stand at the boat show..(not sure if I should mention his name?) ...anyway...rang him up and he was happy as anything to offer tickets.. All sounded fine to me...not being one for details I can't remember all the bits he said were happening but there was quite a bit....the main bit though was him offering me 10 tickets and saying he will pop in the post tonight.. Initially I though i would drag some poor office types down there but then i thought of you lot! So if you PM me with your details I will either pop them in the mail to you when I get them or I will meet you there and hand em over! Or if you want to know more I will endevour to get him to post a proper invite here..is that advertising though?

Re: jagoowah

Now you've gone and done it! I'm a dyed in the wool dedicated Jag man, only old ones I admit, but do like the X type, My last car, (I don't own them anymore, rent em' no room onboard) Was a V12 E type, drophead, rebuilt, wonderful beast and reliable, (rebuilt properly in Holland) Loved it! Great posing machine and with six webers and extractor exhaust, like greased weasel shit! I have to agree about the XJS, unless you got a very late V12 drophead, with twin headlights, they were great GT cars. I owned a Lambo once, never again, Ferrari, yes! I owned a 328, nice car also, but reliable? and horrendously expensive to even service, as was the Lambo, but who cares really I could afford it then! I love the new series of Ferraris' and am seriuosly tempted, but again where will I put it?

I would be interested in posting a story about this show on the website...

I'd be grateful if you would email me with some more details, or pass my email address on to the relevant parties

Many thanks.
