On those 12v cigarette lighter thingies, which is the positive and negative connection? Someone said last night that the point in the centre is the positive and the springie things on the side are the negative.

Thanks in advance.

Centre is positive. Because the outside, in a car application, is the negative return, through the bodywork, or through a wire connected to the bodywork/chassis etc.

A lot of appliances don't mind what polarity they have but some get very upset. I plugged in my phone charger on a friend's boat using a portable socket with crocodile clips. It got the wrong polarity and fried the charger.

hows the cat getting on? plus have you still got stingo? and then going of post i know but, why does a 14 year old get a front page advert for his boaty auction and you didnt?
