Changing a boats name, good or bad thing to do ?

Well it is a CATamaran
No - thats a Hurricane - class of catamaran.
Designed by the great Reg White - a past UK Olympic Gold Medallist - sadly no longer with us.
Mine was/is called Splat
But we have had a few interesting names
The Muts Nuts
Betty Swallocks
Ginger Pussy
etc.

Yes but that would make for a very boring thread would it not
? Yes it would, forget what I said, when you change the name you MUST do the following according to what the old man of the bar told me once in some far away pub in land forgotten now. You must dance naked around your cockpit, wearing high heels and lipstick whilst singing sea shanties and mermaid songs whilst drinking whale blubber.….?

I didn't know you had to change the name of the boat to do that.

Got it, thanks. Where’s the best place to get Whale Blubber outside of Japan ? I asked the manager in my local Waitrose but he said they’re out of it right now and he’s not sure when it’ll be back in.

Ebay will sell you a harpoon I am sure

One is encouraged to change names as often as you can afford the bill that comes with libatious consumation of fine drink, nubile dancing wenches, bob bons and pickies that come with the ceremony to appease the gods of choice.
Don't forget the Monsignor.

There is also a headache and cost of the paperwork.

I have always changed boat names and am still alive and so far I haven't sunk.

Sometimes the name just doesn't suit the Boat or new Boat owner. We changed the last name from "Rosie" to "Out Out" it's a much better name for us.
I look forward to hearing you on the radio, "Out Out, out".
