Veltrim/van liner carpet how does it fare in a more humid climate?

Seems to be a uk thing to replace headlining with this stuff, and indeed I have done it in the wee boat.
It works, looks smart and feels cosy.
I’m reluctant to use it in the big boat though, going the route of tongue & groove and painted/stained ply panels in general, but the sides between the deckhead and where it meets the above settee lockers are proving problematic to my very limited skill set, and veltrim would make it so much simpler :)
My concern is that if she ends up in the carribean and gets left in a yard for 6 months it could go very mildewy or mouldy. Anyone have any direct experience in more humid areas, good or bad, with this stuff in their boat?

My old (British) Hunter Ranger 245 was delivered with ‘van carpet’ lining on the interior hull sides. Within 3-4 years of regular all season weekend use it became heavily infested with black mould.
Maybe a (more easily wiped down / non absorbant) vinyl faced product could be a DIY friendly option?

My present boat (16 years old & counting) uses this stick on leather look product for areas too awkward for a rigid headlining / hull side slats. Spend 6 months aboard cruising each summer and have lived aboard when between jobs/houses. No mould, so far:

Thats not a bad idea at all, thanks. I might even be able to use some of the architectural vinyl I used on bulkheads, hadn’t even crossed my mind! Then I just need to find some kind of flexible trim to transition between the straight edge of the panel to the vinyled curve.
