Classic Boats had a feature on varnish a few years ago and it came out well. I first saw it in use in Victoria B.C. where the sun is rather stronger than here and they swore by it. Nobody stocked ot over here then (2000)
At that time I was using "Masterstroke" (made by Sikkens) which has gone off the market. Now Sikkens seems to have become AKZO who make Cetol, so when I next varnish, it is Cetol I will be using.
Yep, used it on the ply covers to my engine bay last year.
Give a nice (satin) finish. Stood up to the winter and feet trafficing over it well, but could do with a couple more coats to spruce it up for the summer. Should be easy anyway, think you just give it a quick rub down with a scotchbrite pad and re coat.
Overall, very pleased with it. Might use it on my cabin sides (teak) this year instead of varnish as it was very easy to apply.
Yes. Seems to be the stuff of choice over here in USA-land. Just put 3 coats on the teak of me new IP after scotchbrite pad first to clean it up. Went on very easily and looks good. I used satin but there is a gloss version too. I'll see how it lasts over time but maintenance seems easy - just scotchbrite and keep piling it on, at least for now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
