Oh dear, it appears to me that that you have caught the "Westerly" bug Mr W.
Googling Westerlies every morning is a severe case with probably no known cure, other than to buy another, cut a hole in it if you wish, (to get it out of your system), & then recovery should follow.

Odd forepeak windows for a 1978 model - they should be square, so it is older than the agent reckons & the vinyl floor will be reasonably lethal when wet. Pretty, but in a shabby chic kind of way…..

Give me a boat that's been loved by someone with odd (actually that's unkind, let's say particular) taste over a boat that's been neglected any day.

It is lovely to see a well cared for older boat but I've seen some horrors as well, including a Longbow with a floral wallpapered quarterberth and a Nauticat 33 painted with (I think) Sadolin. Fence paint basically, looked like the whole thing had been smeared with you know what...

Big unanswered question is what does she smell like.? Some old boats smell great others have a whiff that is nasty and cannot be shifted. "If in doubt always follow your nose!

Looks cheap & nasty to me but that is the general layout of Centaur's so can't see anything remarkable about it.They were cheaply mass produced & I used to know one very well respected boat builder who gave up because he could'nt stomach fibreglass & the dumbing down of mass produced fibreglass boats of exactly that Westerly type.
I'd as soon have a dentists waiting room!

Spoken like the owner of a Prestige Marque not a Macwester 27, a boat than only looses out to a Centaur on the looks and performance fronts, IMHO.

So let me get this straight your "very well respected boat builder" friend got pissed off with technological progress, i.e "he couldn't stomach fibreglass", and from your own comments on dentists waiting rooms i'm guessing you own or aspire to own an AWB, so infact a "cheaply-made mass-produced" boat then?
