I,m sure this is a regularly posted question so bear with me.
I will be picking up a boat tomorrow as a private sale .
Its american made , hull year 2003 , dealer imported , one owner from new.
It has a CE plate .but no associated CE paperwork .
What if anything should there be , and would it be recognised if I eventually decided to sell elsewhere in europe .Thanks .

If the certificate of conformity cannot be found (what would it look like ), can it be replaced ?
I sure the seller does have the owners manual . What tech info should I look for .

As I remember, it appeared to be right .
I dont have any real suspicions of foulplay.
I also remember several pages of ticked items as I thought at the time was a factory quality control type document .Could that have been the certificate ?

If it was dealer imported they will be able to get copies of everything, and they are required to store things like that for data protection.

Find the dealer, give them a call. If they cannot help, and when I say cannot help, I mean they cannot supply you with a CE compliant owners manual and a declaration of conformity then give CE Proof a shout and they'll sort you out.

If the boat has been imported recently it will need a post construction report with sound and emission test certificate numbers with it too.

Good luck, and enjoy your boating!

The builders' plate is not required to have the HIN or CIN on it.

It needs the crew limit, max power, design category, notified body number if appropriate.

you dont mention the size of the boat.If its a normal sportsboat type, and was a normal first sale through the recognised dealer, then I would be pretty relaxed. If it was a second hand boat then imported into the UK, then it is probably wise to make sure exactly what you will/will not have BEFORE paying over a penny. Strange how things suddenly arent available once someone is holding your dosh!
Cant say anyone even asked about CE on any USA sportsboats I ve sold. But if you are talking about something much bigger and much more expensive, you may get more concerns yourself when you come to sell.

I would hope if you're selling American Sports Boats you were doing the CE Marking checks... could prove a little pricey if not!
