Anyway, when it comes to theological argument, I think that God withheld the power of reasoning from me and gave me instead the gift of falling asleep quickly.

Rabbie and a number of others.... clearly you are mixing up 'religions' and God, which is why I do agree with much of the negative stuff you all say about religion...... clearly, religions raise many, many issues which are bound to confuse, frustrate, make all sorts of 'religious' rules (such as not sailing on Sunday), and even cause wars. God on the other hand is very, very different to that, if you can cut through the religion trying to hide Him, then you would be very pleasantly surprised.
Thats the last of my soap box sermons on this hopefully as it is very difficult to explain everything on a forum like this as it only ends up with more confusion than answers.
If anybody is really serious about starting to cut through some of the 'religion' and getting to more of the truth, then find a good local church and go through their 'Alpha' course.
