But you can fool most of the people most of the time , and that usualy works , if it does not try the special forces ( libya , syria , nicaraqua , san salvador chili etc ) or economic coercion and blackmail , ( cuba , venezuala etc ) . When you have the worlds mass media in your pocket many things are possible .Surprisingly I have read the NATO Charter, (some time ago so I quickly refreshed my memory) and I don’t recognise your interpretation in any of the clauses, in fact the early clauses promote the importance of the UN and peaceful negotiations .
I believe that in reality Putin knows that NATO is no threat to Russia, but it is a highly convenient form of propaganda to convince the Russian public to believe that it is, thus avoiding any major discontent with his actions in Ukraine.
Maybe he should remember the dictum,,,,You can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all of the time.
