Carb classes

It’s now known to cause more issues than just moisture related. Started seeing it attack the components and fittings of the fuel system itself. Some of the OEM like mercury have since released service bulletins around it.

That has been a known issue in the US for 20 years.

For the most part, it an issue with pre-ethanol motors, but it can still be a problem if they take shortcuts on quality. Some non-US, non-ethanol country motors are NOT fitted with ethanol resistant parts. Pretty stupid IMO.

That has always been the case with polymers in the fuel system. Garden equip engines in particular, E10 is making it worse.

Having watched one of these videos there seem a lot of bits to lose but assuming I manage that bit what sort of service kit is needed? Is it just one gasket or do people use the full set of bits?

80% of time all that is neeeded is a cleaning and no kit.

Not that many bits, since you don't disassymble more than needed. Normally, just the jets.

Open, remove the jets and clean, spray clean, put it back together, and start the motor. Easy-peasy.

... Honda marine did a carb manual. This book taught me everything. If your interested in learning this book is for you

Top link is Honda Marine carburettor manual, lower link is a general Honda carburettor manual. Both can be downloaded without signing up to a subscription service.

This book doesnt cover slide carbs, which your Tohstsu will have. Luckily yours is very basic, it hasnt a slow running circuit and only a main jet to worry about
