If it's Staffnage, the marina is the best place. Why park in Oban to do sailing?
If you really have to park in Oban, don't use Tesco's 'cause it will look out of place at night. Just go up a side street same as everybody else.
Otherwise, proceed to Loch Melfort and park on the abandoned motor ferry Claymore. The owner, a retired academic from a prestigious establishment in the North of England will be only too pleased to welcome you in the accustomed manner.

Use the swimming pool area carpark or if you come in the north side past dunstaffnage you can park on the seafront past the cathedral on the way out to Ganavan sands.
Well - if you are away with them for a few days you might be better getting them to call in to a Marina and you could leave your car there rather than on a car park or back street of Oban -
The easiest places to do this would be Ardfern - particularly good if they've come through the Crinan, Croabh if they've come up the Sound of Jura or Kilmelford.
No-one would charge for parking.
Dunstaffnage has of course already been mentioned.
