Cannes Boat Show

Just rolled in from a week in Greece and on the Nice flight in the morning .... I shall be there for the duration. Port Canto though.

So hit the show today. A one hour delay to the opening time, due to god knows what, but in the end the French just pushed the security wallahs out of the way and we were off.

The early morning easterly dropped out and it soon was a tad moist wandering around the show.

I love it. From large boats to small boats it has it all and I find everyone friendly.

Top UK stand - Princess. Looked very professional and well thought out.

Best French - Jeanneau.

Best all over - Cranchi.

Go - you will love it.

I think you will find it was because the mayor did not allow the opening due to a security threat.

Given the location a good call ...

Cannes is a great show and in a great location as well and we (Steeler Yachts) have just had one of our boats nominated for Boat of the Year as well!
Whats not to like?

According to Riviera Radio the delay in opening was caused because most exhibitors had not had the requisite safety training so opening was delayed until 11.00am where by I guess some forward appreciation had been paid to head of safety and all was suddenly good again.

Okay very interested to hear via PM the reason you have as it put me in a sticky situation with a client.

Been today - most dealers hacked off with the 2 hr delayed start on Tue. - goss is mayor just could not be 85esd to turn up,on time ! -nowt to do with security -he's an anti boater guy

Yup, one hour. The crowd pushed past the shambles that was the security at 11. I was watching the whole thing.

You mean that Riviera Radio, the home of U2, Earth Wind and Fire and Aqa played on heavy rotation is not authoritatively correct on this. I am frankly shocked.....

Don't go moking Riviera Radio - we are currently listening to the loop right now anchored in the Fossets at St Jean.

Now who wrote that Sunseeker add!!!!

Combo of price , looks ,fit n feel -compared to other 50 ish ftrs - they have tried too hard to cram too much in .
At La Nap they have had a Pred 57 now over a year and a San Remo (IPS) 48 may be 18 months -stock -sat doing nothing .

I am surprised about this since according to Sunseeker the 57 Predator is selling the best in its 50-60 feet sport yacht sold in the last 5-10 years.

After the flop of the 54 Predator some five years ago which I think was a great looking machine but marketed very badly. I was made to think this was a huge success.
We also have a 57 here, stock at Sunseeker Malta and still not sold.

I'm genuinely interested to see the Manhattan 52 at Southampton. I've seen some photos and plans but will view with an open mind. There are some aspects of the design which are a clear move forward, other areas I need to see in the flesh. That folding helm seat being the most obvious.

Sunseeker always claim to sell bucket loads of boats at the shows and yet there seem to be build slots whenever required, make of that what you will. The marketing machine never switches off long enough to get to the truth.

When I helped Princess out at the Singapore show I was on the other side of the fence and it was interesting watching them try to juggle build slots with the factory so everyone who wanted a P75 could have one. No question of phantom sales, in fact quite the opposite. They were genuinely worried about upsetting longstanding customers.

The 50 something foot sector is well catered for at the moment and we still have to see Fairline's first genuinely new model flybridge. Only the strong will survive.

I thought about popping over to Cannes but unfortunately have guys off on holiday so need to be here.

Henry :)
