Can you paint a vinyl headlining ?

Hello world,

This thread caught my eye... has anyone actually used the stuff and does it give a good result ?? I have a couple of navy blue panels that I think would look better in a cream/magnolia colour..

My only experience has been in painting a blue Triumph Herald front seat black many years ago. It worked fine and hasn't shown any sign of coming off, but the finish is a bit matt. Of course that could just be poor application.

However, I think it's a a rather thin layer for the necessary flexibility, and I'd be a wee bit doubtful about it successfully obliterating navy blue to leave a good cream finish. Maybe it can, but I'd really want to try it on a test piece first. A big test piece, too, in case it blotches.

I painted a (sort of) white headlining in a Mini with the Halfords black headlining paint.
It had very good opacity and if I remember correctly, covered completely in 2 light coats.
The disadvantage is that you have to mask-up as it's a spray can. It dries straight away and overspray tends to be snuff-dry before it lands.

I have used simple Kitchen/bathroom vinyl emulsion with very good effect. The first coat seems to leave a slightly sticky surface but after 2nd coat it is fine. Now been in place for 7 years and gives a bright washable surface.
