It’s the socket for my 18 year old Shipmate VHF but what’s it called so I can do an eBay search? Or any ideas of a source.
Cheers

We use them at work, in a variety of pin configurations. I don't do electrical design so I don't have the part number to hand, but I could perhaps ask someone who does tomorrow if Eugene hasn't found his Mouser receipt by then.

Fast reply guys.
Good find portofino but it doesn’t look like it’s compatible with my Shipmate 8400. ....and Martyn 10 out of 10 for pic identification but I guess my title didn’t really capture my real question.
Cheers
Have you tried searching on Ebay for 8 pin shipmate simrad socket ?

They all seem to be 8 that I have seen, but the pins also seem to be customisable in that they are fitted or not depending on configuration... is the male also 6 hole, or more?

I’ve made a mistake in my description. The socket is male (6 pin) and the lead is 6 hole female. No sign of customisation from 8 pin.
Seems like Simrad have designed and made their own connections.

Here is the cable-end connector that I used to replace my Simrad VHF handset cable.

Here is the datasheet. 6 pins in a 7 pin configuration but with the top pin missing, near the notch.

This is for the cable-end connector but I presume there will be a matching socket.

Hope this helps anyone looking to replace their cables in future!

Good find Eugene and one step closer to the matching socket. For those like me (IT numty) who may wonder where the link is press the word “Here” above.
