I'd just like to see some specific reference to us, as evidence someone is doing something rather than telling us to "be conservative".

I follow the Corona stats quite closely and it is notable that Johnson and pals place so much emphasis on the deaths figure which is well down ( e.g. Deaths in English Hospitals are now running at around 50/60 a day, compared to a peak of just short of 900), the problem is that deaths are a lagging indicator. The leading indicator is infection rates, but we don't have such a firm grip on that number due to testing numbers and many not being tested. What we do have a firm grip on is the number of hospital admissions with Covid and I noticed in the press briefing today that the admissions in the latest 24 hours were actually higher than the same day the week before. OK it's only one day but worth keeping an eye on the next few days.

The ONS does random swab testing. Their last report (a week ago) put active infections at 1 in 1700, down from 1 in 400 a few weeks before, so things were definitely moving a good direction.

Did anyone else red the story of the 2 dumb ass women going back to NZ from the UK and starting the whole thing off again for them, due through their self-centred short-sightedness?

Where are we actually at now? The virus is basically everywhere in the country but mainly just killing the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions?

At this stage I'm getting to the point where death is starting to look preferable to the boredom and suffering from BSAS ... boat separation anxiety syndrome, made worse by being abandoned by the RYA. I'll need specialist therapy soon. May be book into a flotation tank.

You mean the two woman who flew to visit a dying relative and complied with all the government requirements, but sadly had been infected?

Two women traveled to New Zealand to see a dying relative. Now, they're the country's first coronavirus cases in 24 days.

You really seem to be a very unpleasant person.

That is unnecessary and rude. It has no place on a friendly forum. Please apologise.

No.

Calling people who wish to say a final farewell 'dumb ass' however? (The hard of thinking and lacking in empathy should note that the NZ authorities do not grant quarantine exceptions for trivialities)

No, they were dumb asses because they went to see friends - thereby breaking the law, got lost driving to their parents, stopped to asked a stranger direction, gave them a hug and kiss, and then drove on. Oh, and lied about it until later.

First cases in the nation in 24 days.

Seems they knew one of them had symptoms too.

I'm not unpleasant, I'm just better informed. When was the last time you gave someone who helped you with directions a cuddle and a kiss? Let along in the midst of a pandemic. Fair question, when last time you gave anyone a cuddle and a kiss in the midst of this pandemic?

Total, self-centred, dumb asses.

Probably cost the nation a million quid in extras now.

Do I think it was necessary for them to fly 12,000 miles via Doha to attend a funeral at this time? Absolutely no.

Do I suspect that it was 9/10 BS and they just wanted to go back to New Zealand because it was safer/nicer there etc? Absolutely yes.

Plenty of people even in this country being separated from dying loved ones.

If you guys are addressing me, you'll need to a lot more clear and specific because I cannot work out if you are, or are not.

Anyone know if we're going to be classed in with the campsites yet?

By “we” I assume you mean marinas. There is no enforcement of the regulations for people anchoring (at least not in the Solent and surrounding area), and the regulations shouldn’t stop you if you do so safely and responsibly.

Any watering down of Regulation 6 (staying away from the place you are living) is likely to include marinas. Boris said a few days ago that he hopes “to reopen at least some of the hospitality industry and other public places provided they’re safe and enforce social distancing” on 4th July. Marinas have already shown that they can maintain safe social distancing by the fact they reopened when the first amendments were made to the regulations on the 13th May. Any relaxation of the 2 meter rule will only support that.

I think it’s extremely unlikely campsites will be allowed to reopen and marinas will remain shut for overnight, non live aboard, visitors.

A lot of the rules don't make sense to a lot of us, hence people seem to be adapting the rules to suit their own agenda.

Marinas and boatyard were never on the list of places that we required by law to shut in the first place.

Rather bizarrely one of the harbour authorities on the East Coast has closed a visitor's pontoon which was previously available for short stays in the apparent belief that the regulations still require people to stay at home

Or maybe they've closed it because they do't wish to expose their staff to risk?
Maybe they've seen poor social distancing by visitors and don't think the game is worth playing right now?

That is still the over-riding requirement, isn't it? With a few more exceptions than there were.

If the trend is down, following a lagging indicator is a good strategy. Question though, is the trend really going down?

Use your anchor or grab a mooring buoy.

Saturday evening (23:00) in parts of the Solent and Studland (and that’s just the ‘pleasure craft‘ with AIS transmission turned on).
