Thanks, got it. The reason why I am trying an update is that my Raymarine Axiom does not display all targets. All class A targets are displayed, but just some of the class B. And I saw you had some similar problems. Did you manage to resolve this issue?

No afraid not. Class A no problem, class B it just wasn’t interested. I bought a new (to me) boat - that fixed the problem for me!

Could you send over info how to install the software and what sd card format is needed. I was sent the details from navico but they arent so helpful with how to install.

Your help would kd be much appreciated.

Hoping it may fix my problem of the unit loosing the mmsi everytime its powered off?

The installation instructions can be seen here:

You need a low capacity slow speed SD card, I think it needs to be only about 2mb from memory, these units were built in the days before we talked in terabytes!

Do you need the software too?

Hi thanks for the fast reponse. This did the trick, i was trying to large of an SD card.

Unfortunately it has not fixed the issue of the unit not retaining its MMSI. I don't suppose you have ever come across this issue? Or know if there is a bios battery in the unit?

Any help greatly appreciated

Pleased at least one issue is fixed. I’m afraid I have no further technical knowledge of the unit and I haven’t heard of the MMSI being forgotten at power off either. Your theory of a PCB battery sounds likely though having recently had a gps die for exactly that reason.

Hi Dave,

Happy to send over the s/w for the update but I don’t think it allows you to update the MMSI unfortunately. I guess you’d need to send the unit to a Simrad agent to do that for you. Still want the s/w?

It is kind of a 'catch 22' .. as you know, to register for new mmsi, you need the serial number of the device/model ... and if it you can't reset it.. then
you can't register it to get a number. Just all adds to the fun of sailing.
The procedure/documents and the software may assist in all of this, so please do send it on.
I also have a connected RS80/RS82 VHF .. which is another whole matter.
