Calling Simrad AI50 (AIS) unit owners - software update

can you confirm please that you've received both the Zip data file and the Simrad instructions sheet? I've had a notification from Google that one of the emails was rejected.

yes i receive 2 inbox from you. the first one. no attachment. and the other one, i have simrad file and the instruction document. thank you.

The latest version of the software for this unit is v 1.9.4. If you have an earlier version and fancy a software upgrade then give me a shout - I have the upgrade files and the methodology.
Hi Rob,

I know you have send a file to many weeks ago. But I haven't received it. Can you please send it again to [Content removed]

That would be great. Thanks and have a nice week.

Hi Rob, got the file and upgrade the AI50.

If some one like to reset the MMSI, I found this attached info and it worked well.

Thanks, Werner

Format an SD-Card (capacity smaller or equal to 2 GB) with FAT32.
Create a text-file in the root directory with the file name
MMSIReset.txt
Put the string Y91%p7kQ@21#aV in the text file and save it.
Open the back of the transponder, put the SD card in.
Switch the transponder on.
Enable logging in the menu.
Follow the instructions to reset the transponder

Werner,

Great info, thanks. I think someone asked how to update the MMSI earlier on in the long life of this thread, hopefully it'll be very useful.

Hi Rob

Could you please send me the software update file and the instructions for installing it.

I haven't posted here sufficiently to have acquired the privilege of sending personal messages, so please send the files to [content removed] and I'll come back to edit the address afterwards. Thanks very much indeed.

Best wishes, Luke

I just registered to get this firmware, so no PM. I have one of the first, still with v1.7. Years ago I had tried to get the f/w update from Simrad but they wouldn't help so I was surprised that you posted it. Please email me with F/W and instructions to greg<at>rellim<.com>. Thanks.

Thanks for that. Easiest F/W update I can remember. I appreciate your helping keep this product alive.

For several years now I have been helping keep the Furuno MFD8/12 alive with replacing worn/broken encrypted HDDs, (It is a very good chartplotter, if dated.) So that is kind of fun as a contribution (on cruisersforum.com).

Excellent, keeping old kit going where feasible and practical is a significant contribution in multiple facets.
