One of our club boats has used the AI50 successfully for many years but it doesn't communicate properly with our new Chartplotter on NMEA2000. I am hoping the software update will fix that. Please send the file and instructions to Ed@Topsl.net. Attention Peter.

Trying to feed the N2K output via a Wi-Fi gateway to Navionics and OpenCPN but getting very sporadic results. Date issue may be at fault.

I suspect there may be a problem with the Simrad AI50 N2K output format. I have had sporadic problems trying to feed AIS to a Raymarine MFD and presently decoding the diagnostic data.
If you need to get AIS data to a Navionics set I have used the NMEA 0183 interface to feed a Quark Wifi converter with excellent results.

Navig8tr, thanks for that tip. I have received the upgrade files and will give that a go. Failing which my YDNR-02 gateway also accepts N0183 input so there is that option.
Interestingly, feeding the N2k to OpenCPN via an Actisense N2k to USB dongle and serial connection, I can see all the AIS targets reliably. I’ve sent the capture files to Yacht Devices so they also looking at it.

Hello i just picked up a AI50 and i was wondering if you could send the update file and instruction. Didn't realize it was a issue with nmea 2000 on these units till i started struggling getting it to work with chart plotter and turned to forms. My email is ericchristen690@gmail.com
